HTC SYNC REVIEWS, SPECS, AND FEATURES

HTC Sync introduced to Sense after the company (HTC) introduced HTC Sense to Android. The latest version of HTC Sync is 3.0, presents users with many syncing options. HTC Sync itself is a desktop application that connects, with HTC Sense, to the HTC’s Android line of phones. Not all HTC series have this feature. HTC Sync is specifically available only for HTC Desire, HTC Legend, HTC Wildfire, HTC Aria and HTC Hero. The latest version of HTC Sync adds the functionality as a media manager, Outlook Calendar and contact syncing. But, then it pops up the thought whether HTC Sync still relevant when the occurrence of cloud computing slowly becomes a serious business.

The overview of this software shows a few essentials of phones, such as the IMEI/MEID number, the current system firmware and the time it was last synced. HTC Sync also shows per section how much space it takes on memory card, just like what iTunes does for the iPhone. In Gallery section, users can transfer camera shots to the PC or sync PC video and photos to the phone. Calendar and People sections are exclusively reserved for synchronizing with Outlook or Outlook Express. HTC Sync program does not interfere with the synchronizing between Google Account and Google Servers over the air. The Phone books can be normally synced with Google Severs or stored locally on the SIM card.

The section of Music itself provides users with some options to sync music files from iTunes and Windows Media Player on the PC, and an option to sync music that is already on the phone too. The program actually makes syncing documents from the Sense’s Mail app from phone to PC. To syncing documents from PC to phone users must select and add PC directories that contain the documents which will be synced. HTC Sync also got bookmarks section, with the capability of choosing any used browser so that can immediately accessible on the phone after the first sync, but it is only for synchronizing from PC to phone. Overall, HTC Sync is meant to backup your device and sync different file types between the PC and Sense equipped Android phone.

Besides being able to synchronize Outlook contacts and calendar or Outlook Express contacts and the bookmarks of web browser between the computer and the phone, HTC Sync also lets user install third-party Android applications on the phone, and bring your photos, videos, documents, songs, and playlists to your phone. Though HTC Sync does a few things that the stock version of Android is not able to do, many of the functions which are available will become increasingly outdated cause of using USB to connect the device physically to PC. But still, as not all of HTC devices are capable of interacting with the new over-the-air enchanced way in HTC Sense, HTC Sync will have its uses for many.
