HTC EVO 4G WHITE SPECS AND FEATURES

We have been talking much about the white versions of handsets these days. A few days back, we were talking about the White iPhone 4, which has gone on sale after a long delay prior to its release date, and a few hours back, we were discussing about the white version of the smallest webOS product, the HP Veer is expected to land on AT&T with 4G capability.

Sprint branded HTC EVO 4G has been one of the best sellers and one of the top Android devices in last year, delivering respectable 4G speeds, and it is a solid phone, equipped with amazing hardware inside. This handset will be overshadowed by the upcoming HTC EVO 3D smartphone, with its full 3D capabilities. OK..let’s come to the point now. Amazon Wireless is now selling the white version of the HTC EVO 4G at its lowest price to date at $89.99 on a 2-year contract with Sprint wireless.

HTC EVO 4G got a massive 4.3-inch 480 x 800 pixel screen, running on a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4G WiMax with wireless hotspot powers. 8-megapixel, 720p video camera. 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. 1GHz processor, HDMI out, Kickstand, 8 GB micro-SD card included, and supports expansion up to 32 GB.

Recently, HTC has confirmed that the EVO 4G will be upgrading with Android 2.3 gingerbread update in this quarter.

For those of you holding out on getting the white HTC EVO 4G but simply couldn’t bear the thought of going to your nearest Best Buy, we have some great news.  Over the weekend, the white HTC EVO 4G has been made available at all Sprint stores, online, and at authorized retail partners.  The price for the white EVO is still set at $199.99 after the $100 mail-in rebate and two year contract.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you have actually purchase the white EVO 4G over its black counterpart?  I’ve spotted a few in the wild, but the number of sightings appears to vastly favor the black model.  Would any of you have chosen the white model if the front of the handset was white as well?

The HTC Evo 4G delivered respectable 4G speeds, and the mobile hot-spot feature lets you connect up to eight devices. The smartphone has a front-facing camera for video chats and also comes with an 8-megapixel camera with HD-video-recording capabilities. The Evo ships with YouTube's HQ video player, Android 2.1 with HTC Sense, and an HDMI port. Other highlights include an extra-large 4.3-inch touch screen and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Sprint's 4G network is limited at this time, making the mandatory $10 premium data add-on tough to swallow for anyone outside of the coverage area. The Evo lacks support for Bluetooth voice-activated dialing. The battery drains quickly with 4G.

The HTC Evo 4G is easily Sprint's best smartphone and one of today's top Android devices. It also shows the promise of 4G, which will grow as Sprint's WiMax network expands, but until there's broader 4G coverage, it's hard to agree with the mandatory premium data add-on fee.

In case you are not fazed by cases of the HTC EVO 4G experiencing light leakage and touchscreen issues, you will be pleased to know that Best Buy is offering pre-orders for a white colored version of said smartphone. All you need to do is place a $50 deposit and remain patient until July 11th, which means you cannot parade the handset before Independence Day cookouts. Patience is a virtue after all, don’t you think so? Hopefully the new color does not mean the build quality remains the same, and internal issues will be fixed by the time July 11th rolls around.
